Without a doubt, this will be the essential reference source in the future. This particular well had a rather unique distinction: the sole means of transport to and from the shore, for personnel and equipment, was via an aerial ropeway! Some things have changed.
Construction of Marine and Offshore Structures, Third Edition
Today, the offshore engineer is required to carry out an enormous range of tasks and a full appreciation of the industry is an essential prerequisite to success. Harbor, River, and Estuary Structures Coastal Structures Steel Jackets Concrete Gravity-Base Structures Other Applications of Offshore Construction Technology Moored Floating Structures Pipeline Installation Plastic and Composite Pipelines, Cables Topside Installation Underwater Repairs Strengthening Existing Structures Removal and Salvage Constructability Deep Sea Construction Arctic Structures The first three chapters provide excellent background information.
Chapters are more specific but still general enough to be required reading. The remaining chapters are for you to choose which are most applicable to your company's operations. I don't think any one company actually does all the types of work this book covers, but it's still good to have the introductory knowledge.

Note topside fabrication, which albeit is accomplished on a quayside, is not discussed. The chapter on constructability is a more recent and important topic.
